Harvey Pekar

Harvey Pekar is the author of the American Splendor series of comic books and graphic novels brought into the national spotlight by the Sundance Film Festival award-winning movie American Splendor. Since 1972, Pekar has chronicled his life in working-class Cleveland as an employee of the Veterans Administration, a cancer survivor (American Splendor: Our Cancer Year with Joyce Brabner), a working writer, and an observer of life. Two of his most recent books are Macedonia, released in June 2007, and Students for a Democratic Society: A Graphic History, released in January 2008.
